USDA to Invest in Red River Basin Conservation Effort

MOORHEAD, Minn., July 2, 2014 - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Collin Peterson today announced targeted conservation funding of up to $50 million over the next five years in the Red River of the North Basin to minimize flooding, boost soil health, improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat in the watershed. The Secretary and Congressman Peterson were joined by Senators Amy Klobuchar, John Hoeven, Heidi Heitkamp and Representative Kevin Cramer at a press conference in Moorhead to make the announcement.

United States and Korea Streamline Organic Trade

This will allow American organic farmers, processors, and businesses greater access to Korea’s growing market for organic products. The arrangement between the two nations will take effect on July 1, 2014.
