Bulls in the second efficiency group were weighed off test March 6^th and 7^th. The Angus, Red Angus, and Salers winners are split into two groups: Green Tag (low actual birth weight, 84 lb and under and +2.0 and under BW EPD for Angus and Salers while Red Angus are +0.8 and under BW epd) and White or Yellow Tag (over 84 lb actual birth weight or over +2.0 BW epd for Salers and Angus while Red Angus is over +0.8). The top ADG (average daily gain) and WDA (weight per day of age) bulls within each respective breed are listed below. The top performing sire groups (three bulls by the same sire consigned by the same breeder) are also identified.

 

The top 420 Angus bulls consigned to Midland have an ADG of 3.32 (Green Tag) and 3.34 (White Tag), and WDA of 3.14 (Green Tag) and 3.25 (White Tag) on the Final Report. The Green Tag winners are split according to a +2.0 BW EPD & 84 lb BW & under while the White Tag winners were over a +2.0 BW EPD or over 84 lbs actual birth weight.

Lot 1243, a polled black son of MCFG-MCF Bruce Almighty 35P consigned by M Heart D Gelbvieh of Stevensville, MT, tops the Gelbvieh bulls in the ADG category. Lot 1243 posted an impressive ADG Ratio of 137 along with EPDs of BW 0.3 WW 44 M 14 YW 78.. Second place with an ADG Ratio of 128 goes to Lot 1234, a son of ACKG Dakota 3T that has EPDs of BW -0.1 WW 37 M 21 YW 79 and is consigned by Middle Creek Farms of Bozeman, MT. Rounding out the top three bulls with an ADG Ratio of 118 is Lot 1215, a son of EDR Early 218R consigned by NN Bar Ranch of Creston, WA. Lot 1215 is a black polled bull with EPDs of BW 2.2 WW 34 M 17 YW 69.

 

Leading the WDA for the Gelbviehs is Lot 1231, a homozygous black double polled son of ACKG Dakota 3T that posted a very impressive WDA of 3.82 along with EPDs of BW 1.9 WW 39 M 18 YW 76 and is consigned by Middle Creek Farms of Bozeman, MT. Second place with a strong WDA of 3.76 goes to Lot 1243, which was also the ADG Leader. Lot 1243 is a son of MCFG-MCF Bruce Almighty 35P consigned by M Heart D Gelbvieh of Stevensville, MT. M Heart D also owns the third place WDA bull with Lot 1242, a son of ELK CK Crazy Horse 138 whom posted a WDA of 3.59. Lot 1242 is a black polled bull with an EPD profile of BW 0.1 WW 45 M 18 YW 86.

 

Middle Creek Farms leads the way in the ADG Sire Group division with sons of MCFG-MCF Bruce Almighty 35P.  Lots 1217, 1218, and 1220 posted an average ADG of 3.26.

 

For the Final Weigh Report 20 of the top South Devon bulls consigned to MBT have an ADG of 3.08 and a WDA of 3.12.

MJB Ranch, Lodge Grass, MT, took the top two honors in the ADG ratio for the South Devon bulls. First place goes to Lot 1321, a black polled BC Shilo 63S son, who is posting a ratio of 122 along with EPDs of BW 3.4 WW 56 M 28 YW 101. Lot 1316, a red polled son of DLCC Stamina 138R, is in second with a 117 gain ratio and has EPDs of BW 5.8 WW 56 M 29 YW 99.

 

Lot 1307, an April son of DLCC Open Ranch 3R consigned by Dar Lynn Cattle Co. of Pierz, MN, dominates the WDA Division. Lot 1307 posted an impressive WDA of 3.63 along with EPDs of BW 2.0 WW 44 M 34 YW 80. Second place with a WDA of 3.31 goes to Lot 1300, a red polled son of SBCC Rider’s Dream 3125 that has EPDs of BW 2.4 WW 54 M 19 YW 94 and is consigned by X-E South Devon Ranch of Moses Lake, WA.

 

MJB Ranch earned the top slots in the South Devon ADG and WDA sire group divisions. With an average ADG of 3.18 and an average WDA of 3.17, these sons of DLCC Stamina 138R consisting of Lots 1311, 1312, 1313, and 1316. 

The top 12 Murray Grey bulls consigned to be tested with MBT recorded a 2.79 ADG and 2.85 WDA on the Final Weigh Report. They will sell on April 8^th following the South Devons.

 

First place in the Murray Grey ADG ratio race, with a 120, is Lot 1262, silver polled Willow Creek Jumbolaya 19E son consigned by H Diamond Cattle Co. of Roberts, ID and has EPDs of BW 1.2 WW 20 M 2 YW 26.

 

Leading the WDA with a WDA of 3.08 is Lot 1266, a black polled son of The Glen Manuel S214, also consigned by H Diamond Cattle Co and he has EPDs of BW 3.3 WW 22 M -1 YW 34.

The top 5 Charolais bulls have an ADG of 2.86 and a 3.03 WDA for the Final Weigh Report. The Charolais bulls will sell on April 7^th at the Midland Sale facilities. 

 

The top ADG bull honor goes to Lot 1254, a polled son of MT Impressive 426P consigned by DMC Charolais of Bastian, VA. Lot 1254 posted an ADG Ratio of 124 and has EPDs of BW 3.5 WW 36 M 15 YW 68.

 

The top WDA bull is Lot 1259, which posted a WDA of 2.74 and is a son of VCR Sir Duke 914 PLD consigned by Tur-Crest Farm of Warren, PA. Lot 1259 has EPDs of BW 1.1 WW 43 M 9 YW 72.
